Not a theory but fact , Fury Road is not connected to the first trilogy , we have a new Max , a new story and a new Interceptor much like a new Batman and new Batmobile

The movie I watched, and the Comic I bought were called MAD MAX and that was why i spent my money, I did not go see Sad Sam, Fast Fred, Miserable Mel, Angry Adam, or any other post apocalyptic Mad Max Ripoff---reboots are for stories that are irrelevant, or too big and long with too much baggage, or for things that have become contradicted broken and stupid. They are rarely done by the original creator of the franchise but are mostly done by next gen creators. So why are some of you so quick to throw out one of the best trilogies in history, if you are fans of those movies why would you even want a reboot? Makes no sense to me.

and the length of time you have posted here does not grant you any special credibility whatsoever, I wore out my store bought VHS copies and bought them again, then bought them on DVD and then again on Blu ray i have seen all three of these movies more than any other film, hundreds or maybe even over a thousand times each so do not try to say I am not a real fan or as big a fan, that is crap and only weakens any argument you make.

The game is considered continuity with the comic and film though. The game director has said this a couple of times and even Brendan McCarthy talks about this in the companion book.
Then this is another contradiction.

Everything I've read on the game has stated that it does not tie in with the movie. There was a fairly lengthy article in Game Informer about the game (it's on the cover). I'll have to read it again but I know the developer stated that the game is its own story and won't tie in with Fury Road. They said Miller layed down the "rules" of the MM universe and they came up with a story based on those rules. Miller had little to do with the actual game development beyond that.

Originally Max wasn't even going to have an Australian accent. When fans heard this they went batshit and the developer changed it.
Now obviously with GasTown and War Boys being in the game, this must have been something Miller talked with them about. However, they never say that the game is a prequel to Fury Road.

It's great to have new blood in the forums, but please don't let this degenerate into a pissing match between codgers and urchins. I think you guys need to figure out what these words mean and what they mean to the principals involved. A sequel, to some, is the next movie in a franchise regardless of story. To others it means a story that directly ties into the story of the previous movie. Star Wars and Hunger Games are like that, none of those movies, except maybe the first Star Wars, really stand on their own. Bourne is kind of the same way, and Bond straddles the line. Star Trek The Motion Picture (the FIRST one) stands by itself, but Search for Spock is a SEQUEL to Wrath of Khan.

Each Max movie stands on it's own. You don't need to know the other movies to watch and enjoy one, but it helps to understand him. The only recurring character is Max, even the car goes away.

So if Miller says it's not a sequel and the game is not a prequel, all that may mean is that they are standalone stories that take place in the same world but do not connect to the story in Fury Road.

Just because you define a word doesn't mean anyone else has that same definition.

And there is nothing to say there is/was only one BoB. It would be daft to think anyone hauled up that wreck and rebuilt it. It's just 'another' car.

Why thank you. Even if you weren't directly referring to me. I've been a Mad Max fan for years now, and was pumped when I saw that Comic-Con trailer. Now seemed the time to join.

This what my first post in this thread, and indeed my first post on the forums, was attempting to do. Simplify the terminology so that people aren't constantly re-arguing the same points, not realizing they've been established.

But there is only one, isn't there? That's sort of the point of the BoB. It's entirely unique. It's "the last of the V8 interceptors". There can only be one. George Miller doesn't try to fool his audience. We're looking at the same vehicle from Road Warrior. It's not a duplicate, and it wasn't repaired. It was smashed twice. It might be smashed in the game, and in each of the new trilogy movies (assuming they get made.) The destruction of the BoB is part of the legend of the warrior we called Max. This is just another version of how it was destroyed, tied to an entirely different tale of Max's.
I Am.

regardless of whether it was the last one or not, it was cobbled together from other wrecks, so before it was put together they were the last, wasnt Knightrider in a V8? then at that time it would have been the last, I always assumed that "a piece from here a piece from there" meant that they may even have salvaged parts from the Knightriders car.

cars are made from factory made mass produced parts, even if it was the last, that would only be until someone found the parts and built another.

we are all calm, we are all friends here we are just having a heated discussion about different opinions, it is all good, and from me much love to all MM fans even if I am arguing with you about continuity, but do not stifle the debate just for the sake of civility, and no it is NOT just a movie...it is the coolest movie ever!! :D
