Where did you here this? I think I'm not the only one who wants to hear about the source of this rumor.Uncle Entity wrote:I've always heard Miller wanted to kill Max at the end of Thunderdome.
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

It's true, Miller wanted to kill Max at the very end of Beyond Thunderdome but he opted out of this idea saying it'd be too heavy for a PG13 movie. It's why Auntie's decision not to kill him played out so weird - Max should've been killed right there and then. I can't remember where I read that, maybe it was in the making of MMBT, but I'm 100% positive that was Miller's original intention, just need to find that quote...

I hope he doesn't kill him off. It ruins the legend of Max. Remember the tag line "pray that he's still out there, somewhere..."
Killing him off won't stop a reboot either. If WB wanted to do another trilogy, say 20 years later, they're going to do it regardless of what happened previously.

i read the plan was to kill off Max at the end of TD but Miller said as they were filming he decided against it and could not do it.
Re: Will Miller kill off Max in this new trilogy?
yeah a Furiosa movie would definitely be a spin off and personally I'm not interested in that much at all. Maybe my comment was misunderstood, but what I meant was that Max will definitely be in any future films (that is if they're all titled "Mad Max") but possibly be a main reoccurring character who plays second fiddle to new characters and their plight, that he encounters and partners up with for survival ect...along the way. Kind of like how everyone's been commenting on Furiosa being the main star of Fury Road rather than Max, of coarse this is all just pure speculation....scag66 wrote:Thanks for actually reading the first post. The Boss wrote:to answer the original question, I think the only thing to fear is Max getting upstaged a bit in future films (if there's any more made) in favor of new characters ie Furiosa
I'm all for a Furiosa movie or two but wouldnt they be spin offs and not actual Mad Max movies?

But they definitely weren't "good guys" either given the situation, but I get your point. They seem to be open to helping whoever gain safe passage through the canyons for the right price, so they could go either way - be an asset or a threatTurbofurball wrote:The Rock Riders weren't a bad element, they had a deal and Furiosa screwed it up ... break a deal and face the wheel. The Boss wrote:... there's still plenty of bad elements to battle left over from Fury Road, rock riders ...
I'd love to see the Rock Riders picking off the last of the War Boys and nabbing their stuff, they deserve fair compensation after missing out on the guzzoline!

This. Quite frankly, I remember it was Gibson to suggest Max not dying at the end...?Taipan wrote:It's true, Miller wanted to kill Max at the very end of Beyond Thunderdome but he opted out of this idea saying it'd be too heavy for a PG13 movie. I`m pretty sure KMM owns everything Mad Max and Warner Bros or any other company wanting to do reboot would need their permission and or cooperation at the very least. If I was George Miller, the first item on my last will and testament would be "No one make Mad Max films but me".RedHotRyder wrote: Killing him off won't stop a reboot either. Had never heard of Miller wanting to kill off Max in MMBT before, interesting. Not surprised to read that Mel didn't want it to happen, its like "By all means, stop giving me huge amounts of money in the future"
Not a lot of peoples cup of tea but I`d take Max leaving this world in one spectacular final act of redemption in the future third movie over a perpetual MM2 style closing shot every day of the week.
