Bullet Farmer's actions

The scene of the bullet farmer blind firing various weapons into the mist never made sense to me. Is there a possible "logical" explanation for it?

He says something like " I'm just feeling " he is blind firing to see if he hits something to determine what direction they went in ( dunno why they just didnt follow the tyre tracks lol )

Or to provoke some ineffective return fire, which would give away their position. I assumed that either they were going too fast to see the tracks, or the swamp was sufficiently squishy that they just disappeared ... of course, once he looses his eyes he just goes batshit insane, so all bets are off at that point!

Number 1 i think he was just a trigger happy madman and no matter how many times Joe said PATIENCE, he still woulda done what he wanted.
"ARE YA COMIN' BROTHER? I'VE BEEN CALLED TO THE TORTURE! YOU STAY HERE WITH YOUR GRIEF DADDY, I'LL FETCH 'EM FOR YA"

Number 2 he was literally just probing i think, shooting into the dark or anything that looked like movement or a bush maybe to shake em loose.
Ya know? shoot into bushes on a hunt and anything might jump out of it, maybe what your hunting.

That's Richard Carter with fight choreographer Greg Van Borssum on the right in costume that resembles the Razor Cola character concept illustration.

That's the same rig he wears the rest of the movie.
Lucky it had an IV tube on it ;)
