Nope. The braid is well before the hinge. On your idea, when the doors open, the entire 8ft rear length of the pipes swings out on the doors? Not buying that.
What they've done is to cut the lower section off the door and weld that to the chassis, shortening the door length, and angle the rear of the door up, as you can see in these pics.
(it's also good to see that after the war they can not only make tires, but be able to stamp them with company names of today!)
