During Max's opening monologue, when he has a brief vision of a girl turning toward the camera and getting run over, it looks like the big truck with all the speakers on it is among the vehicles in the crowd that are running her over.
Presumably this vision of his is a mixture of his real memories and his current reality. So, my question is, does the presence of the speaker truck in his vision imply that he has previously encountered Immortan Joe's tribe?

Re: Girl in flashback at beginning
I think that the flashbacks aren't totally flashbacks everytime. I think the girl is helping him see bits of the future to help him. Something major happened with him and that girl and the Abo tribesman, before fury road. He also has a deeper flashback of the toecutters eyes bulge at the end of MM1. Goerge Miller said we all know how Max became Mad and didn't want to go back that far with Max. Its the start of new adventures with Max After MM1 Basically for fun. I want the DVD to see who are all the people that flash infront of him when running from the warboys.

So this girl might not be his daughter, i.e., his origin story might not have been as heavily altered as people have presumed?

Re: Girl in flashback at beginning
I honestly just think that part of the flashbacks was very badly done. Yes, it's immortan Joe's army, and the exact same shot without the girl comes later in the film. It's fair enough to have the theory that she's showing him the future too, but I think that's a bit of stretch. Personally I just think they lazily used dramatic footage they already had and superimposed the girl on, rather than shooting something new. Most of the flashback stuff was ok, but that particular part just felt wrong for me.flightsuit wrote:During Max's opening monologue, when he has a brief vision of a girl turning toward the camera and getting run over, it looks like the big truck with all the speakers on it is among the vehicles in the crowd that are running her over.

I seem to recall the girl calling him "Max" in some flashbacks. His daughter wouldn't call him by his first name.

She also clearly called him "Pa" in one of the later flashbacks. My take is she was an abandoned child Max picked up during his travels. After they bonded for some time he watched her die by the hands of another tribe. It's odd George Miller decided to use this as the one and only very loose explanation for Max's "madness" to new fans. I don't remember Fury Road mentioning his wife and son, even during the opening narration. Hopefully the sequel/prequel goes a little deeper. If not we diehards will have the comics and video game.OzRedMonkey wrote:I seem to recall the girl calling him "Max" in some flashbacks. His daughter wouldn't call him by his first name.

Why not? I have always called my parents by there first name since I learned to speak. And at school I had a class mate who also called his parents by there first name. It's not that uncommon.OzRedMonkey wrote:I seem to recall the girl calling him "Max" in some flashbacks. His daughter wouldn't call him by his first name.
And like Mad Max RW says, she also calls him 'pa' one time in the movie.
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

The girl's name is Glory and yeah like you guys said she was an innocent Max came across that something happened to her in the Wasteland. We'll find out what in July and August in the prequel comics Miller wrote.

You hear a child voice say PA.... you don't see her say it to Max. The flash backs have reason or they wouldn't be there the way they are period! George wouldn't have that in there for no reason she is helping/guiding him. Its flashbacks/premonitions all at once. This movie is deeper than it gets credit for. You don't have to read into them so much that it feels like your at some hokey gypsey palm reader parler either. lol There just hints through out the movie it was very good.
Re: Girl in flashback at beginning
I saw that (it clearly shows the doof wagon and the usual immortem joe fleet running her over). My tale on it was that Max had encountered and run from citadel elements before.
