The Last of the V8 Interceptors

Some cool info there, furyroadcars. Was curious how many of the black cars were built for FR so i take it the one touring now then is the only one that survived as the other one was rolled. Amazing in some ways that it's turned out to be that car originally put together back in 03 and the same one as shown in 09. Wonder where it's destined to go after it's promo duties are finished? Hopefully it'll return to Australia. It sure is getting around though if there is only the one. It's been seen at a lot of different events already unless they built more later as promo cars perhaps?

Just the one car, it shipped out to the UK a few months ago along with the 2nd remaining Nux car. It did the top gear photo shoot, then started touring, Neatherlands, Italy, UK, etc. I suspect it will come home soon. future plans I don't know, the other vehicles are now in storage.

Does anyone know what kind of blower( top one) is on the bare metal interceptor? It's got a different looking case then any other roots blower I've seen.

What size rims and tires are on that Falcon pic from 09?

V5 Simmons, 15x8" and 15x10".

I bought them to put on one of my hardtops. Have since sold them to a mate for his Sedan.

Wow that that old Falcon really has been getting around then.. Do hope it does come home but does raise an interesting question of what will become of it and the other vehicles currently in storage. Not sure if they would be the property of KMM or Warner/Roadshow but i couldn't see a studio wanting to pay ongoing storage costs when there story has been told and the storage area must be pretty big that they are paying for to keep em. Not sure that KMM will want to be forking out money forever either.. Guess we'll find out down the track if there are any plans for them to be displayed somewhere permanently perhaps.

I'd think if they are storing them it's a pretty good indicator that they are planing on using them again.

There is talk of some sort of travelling Fury Road arena show so the cars are probably being kept for this , they might even turn up at the next Easter Show in Sydney ( pure speculation ) also they probably dont want any of them ending up in some obscure auto museum overseas

I can confirm they were definitely Scott's kits that were taken to Namibia in 2003, then shipped back and kept in storage until they were needed in 2009. Only 2 of the 4 kits had been kept, but that's pretty much all that was needed for both the black Interceptors (very good kits too, definitely the best I've used, fitted great and decent quality in thickness as well. I believe I have seen/used every available kit and some are certainly better than others, I'd happily use Scott's again). One extra nose cone was also sourced later through a friend of one of the guys in the workshop which turned out to be one of Gordon's noses, it was just the top half. Scott's flare were molded to make another set for the 3rd car but I believe the molds were destroyed along with most of the others made for the film. I certainly don't have them.

Scott's blower cut out template for the bonnet also had been kept all those years, though unfortunately it was a little water damaged, but it was still sufficient to use which was great. Razor Cola of course needed a larger cut out and the bonnet had to be pinned on as the only way to get it off is to lift it straight up and over the blowers.

We had Scott's rear flares remoulded and modified to suit Razor Cola as they needed to be longer to fit the 37" tyres. The rest of the body kit was hand fabbed steel but Mark Natoli and Paul Nolan who were two of the panel beaters on the crew.

The car seen at the 2009 press release is the same car pictured above from the first trip to Namibia, it amazingly was saved and shipped back, then used in a Commonwealth bank ad a few years back before going back into storage at Canal Rd. The car has been quickly mocked up in Namibia. When the movie was postponed it was shipped back with some of the other equipment and parts. 2 other hardtops were sold off over there. I only had a few days with the car before the press release so it was pretty much just some quick mods and a tidy up. Once back at the Villawood workshop it was stripped back down and redone. That is the same car that is now touring the UK for the release of Fury Road. One seriously well travelled Falcon.

The brief was to make the car look basically like the originals, but more weathered and with some minor changes to show it wasn't supposed to be the same car. The missing rear wing was actually supposed to be a tie in with the video game, sort of a bonus item you had to find, however that was prior to any game development being started, so that idea went out the window, so we were just left with a car with no wing. Though if you look closely you can see the lines in the 1/4s to show where the wing once was.

p.s z boy, if your previous comments were referring to me, you may need to check your facts as I'm not aware of any issues from my past that are hidden or require anyone to look into, particularly in relation to anything Mad Max. I've never hidden from any thing or anyone, I've been a regular contributor to various forums and groups for many years as I'm always happy to help people with info on falcon hardtops, be it information, specs, photos, parts, pre-purchase inspections, etc . furyroad cars my comments were not directed at anyone personally just as a general rule when things become popular and claims get thrown around, and you need to be wary of people when dealing in cars etc. It is not unheard of for people to try passing off cars as things they are not, I have heard many claims of certain cars being "out of mad max" or "out of running on empty etc" yet they are not. It would not be nice for someone to be stung buying something that is not, I for one would hate to hand over my hard earned cash for say an XY GT falcon only to learn it was actually south African Fairmont getting passed of as an aussie car.

I almost got caught when I was looking at an xb gt sedan which looked very good detail wise until I noticed the body had never been fitted with tramp rods, its all in the small details that people forget they did or didn't do or who they told what to. so take my words for what they are.

As for my name, I have been around a while and ben involved with a lot of max events and people, a lot know me and we may even meet up at some stage.
