It's like this trailer was made for this board!.. just about every issue and question over the last 4 years +...answered in 2 1/2 minutes....I was just gobsmacked . I love every frame. the war boys all seem to smile as they fall ( and are crushed ) which makes them even scarier .so stoked for the R rating , I just wish I could hibernate for the next 45 days or so!

Hey man, i still remember your impression of Fury Road last year. You said something along the line that you weren't sure of Tom Hardy as Max apart from his looks (if i'm not mistaken). Can you tell me what made you weren't sure of him ?

Me myself, he remind me a bit of previous Max but he also bring something new.
I felt like his acting itself was the problem, as if he couldn't quite figure out the tone that best suited the movie. I don't mean this to sound harsh, he's a fantastic actor, but I almost felt like he was acting in a different movie than everyone else. As if maybe he'd over-thought his choices and as a result, it was hard to know what he was trying to do sometimes. There were parts of the movie that were deathly serious but when he delivered his lines (and there aren't many!), I was trying to figure out if he was trying to be comedic. I don't know. He's a very serious method-style actor and I wonder if he just tried to bring TOO much to a part that doesn't really say much. Something didn't sit 100% right for me but y'know, after thirty years of anticipating a new Mad Max movie I may well have been just adjusting to a new actor playing the part. I'd really need to see it again. He certainly looks the part and judging by his interviews the last few days, he clearly had a ball making it. The lack of Theron doing the same just yet may well back up the rumors she didn't have such a great time with it. Or Hardy, specifically.

I see... That's interesting. So it's like he's disconnected from everyone else ? Looking at the trailer, i think he delivered his actions better than his words. His facial expression (from the trailer), looks great but it reminds me a bit like Thunderdome. There is definitely some kind of comedic tone when i see the opening when he ran away from the War Boys. Maybe he felt some pressure playing Max. He didn't want to ruin it, that's why maybe he tried too hard.

are the lines he spoke in the trailer present in the movie ?

They're from Max's voiceover at the beginning and end of the movie. The rest of his dialog in the movie isn't quite so… flowery. The voiceover was probably my biggest hang-up from the screening I saw but hopefully they've found a way to make it work better since then.

I've no doubt Hardy felt pressure taking on the role. I mean, this is his potential jump to A-lister. I doubt he wants to screw that up.

And look, Fury Road's got some Thunderdome-ish elements in there. If that's a problem for anyone, best to prepare yourselves now. (I had no problem with them, for what it's worth.) I read a comment on ion.com yesterday and someone had written: "It is like he took all of my dreams and hopes about the perfect Mad Max movie and then laughed at how small and little my dreams were and said "Here, son. Have this instead.""

Yeah, it's a little worrisome for me but I'm confident Fury Road has so much more to offer. Plus, it's shockingly rated "R", I give Miller and Co. Mad credit for having such big balls.

eh, i've no problem with some Thunderdome-ish stuff. It is still violent. Yeah the voiceover kinda made me feel a bit mixed when i heard it in the trailer. Somehow sounds a bit odd.
