Just 2 quick things.

If you want realsim, never, ever, watch the old show CHiPs. That has what my mom calls "flying cars". This is where there is a wreck, and cars go flying, when in real life, they wouldn't. Even as an under 10 kid, I could tell that was so fake. I will admit that it detracted from my enjoyment of watching that show.

One of lead's criticisms of the movie was that people did not act logically or like they would in real life. I don't know where he's from, but he should watch the news. It is full of people who don't act logically, or how you think they would. Just a few days ago, a couple hundred miles from here, some dumbass gunned down 7 people then offed himself. And last week, some bully almost beat another kid to death.

I agree with ydx7 on the 'logical' bit. People are crazy and irrational enough, never mind the affect the apocalypse might have on how people think. It's always been my contention that the characters, good or bad, in the Mad Max trilogy were all basically in the process of some sort of mental break or psychosis.

Eh, that's merely one of many deep criticisms. After several days in the heat none of those guys smelled a dead dog in the trunk of the car? None of them thought to look in the trunk for anything valuable, like gas, guns, money, drugs... nothing? Three thieves boost a stolen car, and not one of them inquires about what's in the trunk??? That's just not how people operate - sane, crazy, stupid, whatever...

The other criticisms were leveled at laws which cannot or are rarely broken, like physics or damage to vehicles, or mechanics, or economic pressures, etc. Refer to my first post if you care to read more.

Once again , dictated to by a suspected troll.........I hate to be repeating myself , so i'll try putting it another way .Leadcouncil , I don't think anyone really cares how much you hated this movie , so demanding they address your issues comes off as a little entitled . why do you feel you are owed an explanation of somebody's differing view...especially with something as subjective as Art.......especially coming from somebody who has cried foul on here for persecution of their own alternative view........as I am typing this I know I am wasting my time , so perhaps i'll just end it there with "Ditto roadwarriormfp "

You're criticism is totally logical. What's frustrating people is that you are judging a film based around a set of values that don't always lend themselves well to storytelling or filmmaking and don't align with a the majority of the audience. You're also taking the implausible and stating it's the impossible. Those are two very important terms in screenplay writing.

The point you make here is, in my opinion, bordering on paradoxical. You say these guys should have smelled a dead dog in the trunk yet question why they didn't search in there. We could speculate all day about how we feel they should/would behave. It's a pointless exercise, it's better to but that energy into something creative.

I'll tell you whats frustrating me personally....you act like Mad Max & Mad Max 2 are your benchmark for plausibility .I am as bigger fan as anyone of these films , but the epitome of realism....I don't think so . People ( with greater technical knowledge than your own ) have pointed out flaws in the phycology , physics , continuity , plot , mechanics etc etc of these most excellent films....but you don't respond to them , you just keep banging your drum about how un-realistic most modern action films ( including Fury Road ) are in comparison . If you are not going to take on board the knowledge based opinions of others...then could you please spare us from yours ,because it becomes a lecture rather than a discussion at that point .
As I've stated a couple of times , I understand it take all kinds of people to make up the world so I try to be objective with all I read on here , accepting of differences in opinion...even when they just erk me . I have also said that I admire your passion Leadcouncil...but that doesn't extend to out-right ownership of the franchise. Man honestly , your obviously a fairly intelligent person so why don't you focus a little more of that brain on tolerance . so what if you hated the Rover....others clearly loved it .....the taste and expectations of others shouldn't bother you...no one said you have to like it....but according to you , we have to hate it or we are in some way deficient ! What ?

Back to the original question.....I thought The Rover was good overall. Great acting, good sense of world gone to hell, etc. Guy Pierce is underrated as an actor and I thought he as great. This is not an action movie by any stretch, so if you go into it this thinking it will be another Mad Max just because it's dystopian Australia you will probably be disappointed.

Was it perfect? No. Were there plot holes? Sure. But does that make it the most horrid thing I have ever seen? Absolutely not. It's a slice of life kind of story, without the traditional "book ends" that movies typically have.

By the way...my guess for why they didn't smell the rotting dog...either they were so far gone mentally that it never occurred to them, they smelled so bad themselves that it was hard to notice, or they just flat out didn't care. There wasn't a lot of hand washing in the movie, so overall hygiene was iffy at best.
