Auntie's very reasonable 3' tyres (and equally reasonable jet engine with no fuel tank). <=== I'll just leave this here.

The thunderdome cars were a giggle close up. Most of the blowers had no pulleys. One covered car had no engine from where the 8 pipes emerged. I think it had a six set further back. All the same, they still looked good in the movie.

I think some people would be happier if Mad Max II was simply renamed and re-released as Mad Max 4.

If I wanted total realism, I'd go watch the highway, not a movie. Personally, I can't wait for this, faults, disagreements or not. It looks awesome.

Listens for penny..
So there are monster trucks and spares to be found in outback Australia that might survive a war...

I guess the 'deep south of America' is akin to the post apocalypse desert? News to me, considered I lived and spent a lot of time in the deep south. I recall there being internet, parts stores, running water and electricity, factories, companies, parts deliveries, ample fuel on every corner store gas station, nearly unlimited oil and fluids, rubber hoses and belts, etc.

You're both presenting the same straw man argument here.

I'm sure you understand the point I'm making.

I'm not arguing with you. I'm trying to drop hints that one of the trucks in the trailer was built in rural Australian outback Kalannie and its original name was "Shattered Silence".
It's not hard to find out lots of details with a bit of detective work. 22°39'20.88"S 14°49'25.36"E
The fact is that people build monster trucks in outback Australia and after a war the trucks would still exist for lucky roving gangs to discover.

You have seriously fucked this thread with your senseless bullshit. You have NOT ONE CLUE. You claim to be former military yet you act like a spoiler teenager who needs his head kicked in.

For fucks sake fuck off.....
Why is everyone replying to leadcounsel? He is obviously here to cause as much grief as possible. This is what he wants, he's probably loving all this attention he's getting.

Stick him on your ignore list and lets get the forums back to normal.

Then may I offer my apologies!

Impressive detective work.

I think that pretty much concludes things :)

Personally I don't think leadcounsel is a troll. I think he's just one of those people who always surfaces as the most emotionally invested when a topic becomes a mainstream debate. The kind of person who pops up out of nowhere when a new Indiana Jones sequel comes out and claims to be a life long fan, the dude who has to make out he's the biggest Alien junkie when a new movie is announced, the guy who has to have the final say on aircraft technology when a major plane crash happens.

I had a friend like that, the new iPhone comes out and he's got a list of reasons why his old model is technically superior, until he can afford an upgrade. He buys a new car and he's combing through performance statistics to find a trump card, even if it's having the highest mpg. He gets a job and it's his dream job, despite having never shown a hint of wanting to do it in the past etc etc...

The internet pseudo knowledge says it all, plus the way he externalises his thought process with the on the spot learning in his posts.

I don't think he's a bad kid, just suffers from too much posturing and getting off on the wrong foot. I think there was a slight tension here that the forum would become plagued with people of a similar mindset the day the trailer came out. He waded in with exactly the attitude many of us feared, but compounded with a complete lack of interest in objective pro-active research, yet a massive capacity for subject re-active research that supports his "stance".

If anything it serves as a testament to how civilised and accommodating the forum has been. I know there's been the odd minor flame war but really, considering the concerns, emotional investment in the franchise and Fury Road, and the differences in opinion, we should all be patting ourselves on the back.

My hope is that Leadcounsel learns, swallows his pride, and develops his debating skills. He's clearly not stupid, but he is very immature.

Here's a thought in regards to the BoB and the rag stuffed tire. Could it be that this would serve as some sort of DIY run-flat tire? Another possibilty is that it could be an attempt to reduce the chances of a roll over. I've read that during the Rhodesian war, they would fill the tires with water instead of air, particularly on their proto-MRAPs, for just that reason.
I can feel it . . . the Dice are rolling . . . We are getting close to the magical freak out . . .

On Mythbusters they tested fixing flat tire myths and one was stuffing the tire with straw, it worked reasonably well.
